God Loves | Devotional
“…I pray that you being rooted and established in love may have the power together with all of the saints to grasp how high, wide, and deep is the Love of Christ.” Ephesians 3:17
Many of us walk around with a false idea of what God’s love is. How we know, understand and experience God’s love is so important in our ability to trust that He is good and has our best interest at heart.
Sometimes because of past experiences, we see God as angry, harsh, or judgmental. Others may see him as distant or uncaring. Nothing can be further from the truth! The God of the Bible is full of grace and truth. He is kind, good, faithful, gentle, just, wise, and patient. In order for true lasting changes to occur we must be willing to forgo our preconceived ideas of who we have thought God to be and be willing to trust a new picture of God’s love in our lives.
Ephesians 3:17, uses the phrase “rooted in love.” Roots run deep into the ground and receive water to help the tree grow. If we are rooted in God’s love, we can stand strong in faith knowing that His love is a constant stream sustaining us through both the mountains (joys) and the valley (sorrows) of life.
Instead of trying to find comfort in food or other substitutions, we can feel secure in God’s love for us.
Dear Father, thank you for being love unlike any other! Please help me to stay rooted in you and grasp the fullness of your love in my life. Help me to open my heart to receive your love. I pray that I will be able to share your love with the world around me.
Amen.
