See The Good | A Devotional
“God saw all that he made and he said it is good.” Genesis 1:31
Sometimes we may feel far from God or disconnected from Him. One of the quickest ways to reconnect with him is to go back to a heart of worship and give God thanks for what he has given us. Bowing your head, your heart and even your knees and beginning to list the things that you are grateful for truly begins to pivot your mindset. We begin to look up and around see what we have been given and not what we lack or wish we had.
It means that we stop thinking life will be better when __________ (you fill in the blank). God calls us to use our resources and talents to serve him and help others come to know him. When we train ourselves to see what we lack, our faith begins to shrink. While It is easy to see what we do not have, as we practice gratitude and trusting God, we will notice that he is always in the business of seeing what we do have and multiplying it.
Dear Lord, thank you for always supplying everything that I need. I am so thankful for you and for the ways you take care of me. Help me to always focus on what I have and have been given as opposed to what I lack. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
“Gratitude helps the immune system.” Henry cloud
“Thank you” is the best prayer that anyone could say. I say that one a lot. Thank you expresses extreme gratitude, humility, and understanding”. Alice Walker
“Focusing on Gratitude has been found to increase the activity of the parasympathetic nervous system and decrease inflammatory markers; improve depression, stress, and happiness; reduce stress among caregivers; and, among the elderly, significantly decrease state anxiety and depression as well as increase specific memories, life satisfaction, and subjective happiness.” (“Conquering worry and anxiety” Dr. Daniel Amen Pg. 65.)
