Caprese Salad

I’m so excited to bring to you one of my favorite go to summer salads! There are so many beautiful fresh tomatoes at my local farmers market and I just can’t help myself! I remember my grandma slicing tomatoes the summer and using them for everything! Ok, so this salad is super simple and fun because it can be a little messy. I am sharing it 2 ways! One you eat with your hands and the other in a bowl! Everyone will love it!

Ingredients:

Ripe Fresh Local Tomatoes

Cherry tomatoes (2nd option)

Pre- Sliced Fresh Mozzarella cheese

Fresh Mozzarella balls (2nd option)

5-6 Fresh basil leave

Balsamic Glaze

Olive oil (optional)

Balsamic vinegar if you like extra tang (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Slice tomatoes into 1/2 inch pieces and place them on a plate. If you are using larger tomatoes you can always half them lengthwise for an easier bite. If doing the 2nd option then just slice cherry tomatoes and put them in a bowl.

  2. Break out the Mozzarella cheese and place the pieces of sliced cheese on the tomatoes. If you need to slice them in half go for it. If you are doing the 2nd option then take the mozzarella balls out of their package and place them in the bowl with the cherry tomatoes.

  3. Drizzle the glaze on the tomatoes and cheese, I like to use a quick lengthwise back and forth motion.

  4. Chop up your basil leaves and sprinkle them around!

  5. For more of a full flavor you can drizzle olive oil and if you want more of a tangy flavor you can add regular balsamic vinegar.

  6. Enjoy!!!!!
