A Devotional: A Heart of Gratitude

“One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back to Jesus, shouting, “Praise God, I’m healed!” He fell face down on the ground at Jesus’ feet, thanking him for what he had done. This man was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, “Didn’t I heal ten men? Where are the other nine? Does only this foreigner return to give glory to God.” Luke 17:15-18

It is easy to get caught up with new excitement when things are feeling successful! When our bodies make positive changes people are always quick to compliment us. This feels so good! In our journey toward recovery with food and all of the physical, emotional and spiritual changes we are making, it is so important to remember who is the giver of all life! That God alone is the source of true and lasting healing!

In our excitement and momentum, let us always remember to bring an offering of thanksgiving and praise to him, develop a mindset of gratitude as we continue walking through the journey of recovery. This will help instill an attitude of thanks in our hearts instead of entitlement and pride giving all glory and honor to our Father. Let us be the one who out of the overflow of gratitude gives thanks to the one who has given the good gift.

Dear Father, thank you for all of your abundant grace over me as it is by your power and love that I am walking this road of freedom! Thank you so much. In your name I pray, Amen.
