Alena’s Acai Bowl

A Hawaiian girl at heart, I’m always looking for a reason to eat fruit. Last year my favorite summer date was to find an açaí bowl anywhere I could!!!!! They are so refreshing and always seem to make me feel amazing! I am aware they have a lot of sugar, but if you can stick to no added sugars for the açaí bowl it is a wonderful post workout or just a fun meal to have with a friend! I feel like there is so much variety you can create so I thought I would share my go to protein açaí bowl! My bowl has over 25 grams of protein!!!!!! Do whatever makes you happy but I was thrilled with the taste and consistency!!!!

Ingredients:

4-6 Frozen Acai chunks (I found mine at wegman’s)

1/3 cup frozen blue berries

1/4 cup of grass fed local whole milk (you can sub orange juice, almond milk oat milk etc. )

1 scoop of protein powder of your choice (I’ve used 1st Phorm chocolate milk shake flavor)

1 whole banana (frozen or fresh)

1/2 banana sliced

2 strawberries sliced

1-2 tablespoon of coconut flakes

1-2 tablespoon of crushed pecans

2 teaspoons of pumpkin seeds

*feel free to add any other toppings! my favorites include raspberries, mango, a little bit of granola:).

Instructions:

Step 1: In a blender mix the açaí, banana blueberries, banana, milk, and protein powder. Blend at high speed for 1 minute or until smooth. Pour the contents into a bowl and then place in the freezer for 30-40 minutes. The consistency should be similar to a popsicle. If it’s too gloppy in the center then place it back in the freezer (I have found leaving it in unto an hour works out well ! I like to do it before a workout and then come back to it as a reward).

Step 2: Take the bowl out of the freezer. Place sliced banana, strawberries and any other fruit on the bowl. Then add the pecans, coconut flakes and pumpkin seeds!

Step 3: Scoop and Enjoy!!!!!
