What is Your Treasure?

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal… for where your treasure is there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19 &21

Has food become our treasure? Does it bring you hope and light up your day?  How often are we dwelling on and planning for our next meal?  Or, is our treasure having the best body and commanding a room with our physique?  What are we building towards?

Just like food will rot when it is stored too long, our bodies one day will not look young! No amount of cosmetic surgery will hide the fact that our outward bodies grow old. This hard truth compels us to build into and store what lasts. Building spiritual character and qualities like compassions, forgiveness, kindness and love will help us build meaningful relationships with those on the journey with us as well as motivate us to help others come to know the love of an eternal God. We get the opportunity to store up our treasures in Heaven by involving ourselves in the work of the Lord!

Dear Lord,

Thank you for eternal life. Thank you that we can build into eternity through our actions here on earth. Lord, help me to surrender fully to you and keep my focus on you. Amen.

Hold material goods and wealth on a flat palm and not in a clenched fist.”
