Whose Opinion Are You Seeking | A Devotional

“But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance but the Lord looks at the heart.’” 1 Samuel 16: 7

When we begin to examine our motivations for why we want to make changes in our lives, it is important that we take a look at whose good opinion we are searching for and what we hope to accomplish.  While this society judges people by their outward appearance, in the Bible God makes it very clear to the prophet Samuel that He (God) sees peoples’ hearts and motives of their hearts. He loves us and wants our hearts to walk in the freedom that comes from only caring about what He thinks.  When we focus on man’s approval we will never arrive at a truly fulfilling and satisfying place. Our happiness will always depend on someone else’s response or opinion.

Dear Lord,

I ask to only have eyes for you and your approval. I pray that I can walk in step with seeking you and you alone. That I may find out what pleases you. Thank you in advance for equipping me. In Jesus name – Amen.

“The missed opportunities of the past are nothing compared to the fresh opportunities of the present. With God’s help, you can begin to maximize each new moment God gives you. And you don't have to wait another moment to get started.” Joyce Meyer

“This our time on the history line of God. This is it. What will we do with the one deep exhale of God on this earth? For we are but a vapor and have to make it count. Were on. Direct us Lord and get us on our feet.” Beth Moore.
